Call to take action to support reversing Danish cuts to HIV/AIDS and GF commitments. Please take action, tweet, write, Compartir, go crazy, but most important, do something! It would also be brilliant to Compartir this with Danish colleagues at the Embassies/Missions in your countries!

Just to remind you, the Danish Government is planning for:

– A 65 million DK (almost USD 10 million) cut to your Global Fund contribution for 2015 and 2016, despite commitment made by your government with the other Nordic governments during Obama’s visit in Stockholm in 2013 and at the Global Fund Replenishment meeting in 2013.
– Ending your contributions to the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, IPM and IAVI.
– Decreasing the UNAIDS contribution from 45 million DKK annually to 30 million DKK (a cut of US$2,25 million).
– Cuts to all large Danish development CSOs and the small grant CS facility (CISU) funded by Danida.
– Phasing out of bilateral support to Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Somalia, as well as Asian and Latin American countries.

** Call to take action to support reversing Danish cuts to HIV/AIDS and GF commitments — today and tomorrow are key opportunities – see below.**

Dear GFAN colleagues:

Thank you for your support of Danish colleagues as they face unprecedented cuts to HIV/AIDS programs/civil society and the existing Danish pledge to the Global Fund. They have identified that having “outside” and “global” support for their advocacy efforts with the Danish Parliament is extremely helpful.

Attached is the letter that was sent to the Danish Prime Minister earlier today. Please Compartir with any communications colleagues and consider sharing the letter over your social media or website. You can find the letter on GFAN’s websitehere.

Tomorrow (October 22nd) debates of the Finance Act will begin – please consider some social media action to further support your Danish colleagues. This cut to the existing pledge represents a significant threat as we enter replenishment and obviously undermines work that is being done in this allocation period.
